OUR STANCE ON SUSTAINABILITY
The fashion industry produces more carbon emissions annually than international aviation and shipping combined. Most people don’t know that. The industry is counting on it.
Every second, the equivalent of a rubbish truck full of clothing is either landfilled or incinerated somewhere in the world. Garments that were designed to be discarded, produced at a cost the price tag never reflects — paid instead by the workers who made them, and the planet that absorbed them. The fast fashion model was never sustainable. It was always a debt being deferred.
We started BASEC because we believed fashion could be done differently. Not as a compromise. Not as a niche. As a standard.
What we believe
A piece of clothing should be worth making. That means it should be worth wearing — not for one season, not for one moment, but for years. Possibly decades. Possibly long enough to belong to someone else after you.
That belief shapes every decision we make, from the fabrics we source to the way we package an order. It is not a marketing position. It is the only way we know how to work.
What we do
We design seasonless collections — pieces with no expiry date, built to move with you rather than date on you. There are no trend cycles here. No clearance rails. No surplus production run quietly through an incinerator.
Our sourcing is ethical and considered. We work with suppliers who meet our standards on labour, materials, and environmental impact — and we ask questions that aren’t always comfortable to ask.
Our packaging is minimal and recyclable. Because the most sustainable package is the one that doesn’t outlast its contents.
We design for circularity — meaning every BASEC piece is made with its second life in mind. Re-worn. Passed down. Remade. The goal is a garment that never needs to end.
The ask
We’re not here to lecture anyone about their wardrobe. Fashion is joy. It is identity and armour and art. We believe that completely.
We just believe it can also be responsible. That those two things are not in conflict. That choosing better doesn’t mean choosing less.
We are a young brand, and we will show our work as we grow. What we can promise today is that every decision — from the fabric to the final stitch — is made with intention. That standard doesn’t move.
Buy Less. Choose Well. Keep It For Life.
